Portmore, Boys’ Town Remain In Relegation Trouble

Former champions Portmore United and Boys’ Town are still in danger of facing relegation from the Red Stripe Premier League after playing to a 1-all draw in the Monday Night fixture at Ferdie Neita Park.

Ricardo Morrais handed Portmore United a first half lead, but Raffick Thomas ensured Boys’ Town earned a point with a 75th minute goal.

The result means that Portmore United joins Humble Lion on 33 points with both teams six ahead of last-place August Town.

Boys’ Town has improved to 34 points, the same as another struggling team, Sporting Central.

With another four games remaining in the preliminary round, Portmore United and Boys’ Town along with August Town, Humble Lion, Sporting Central and Rivoli are in a battle for survival.

The bottom two at the end of the round will be relegated, while the top four teams will contest the semi-finals.

Tournament leaders Waterhouse and defending champions Harbour View have already booked their spots in the semi-finals, with Montego Bay United and Arnett Gardens on the verge of taking the other two slots.
